J Laverick made four appearances for the first team in a nine month spell at the club.

The exact date he arrived is not certain, but he was in the “A” team that took on Trafalgar on the 6th January 1894.

Laverick made his debut soon after his arrival - coming in for the rested Rogers - and he proved a safe deputy in a 3-0 victory over Northwich Victoria.

He kept his place for the next game against Rotherham (1-2) and it was reported that he and Jeffrey’s coolness at the back prevented a much heavier defeat. He also played in the last match against Grimsby (0-0).

In the 1894/95 season Laverick was only given a single outing in the 2-2 home draw with Notts County. On this occasion he was on the right flank, in place of Jeffrey.

It would be his last game before he moved on to Hebburn Argyle in October.
