George Adam was a popular young player who had earned an impressive reputation for Kilmarnock and was signed after a promising trial game for the reserves.
A dour-looking youth, he was sometimes referred to as Adams in contemporary press reports.
George was primarily a right-half, but could play in any position along the half-back line. For most of his time on Tyneside he was a capable deputy for Jimmy Stott, but also stepped in for Miller on the opposite flank.
The arrival of Tommy Ghee in the summer of 1897 precipitated his departure to Hebburn Argyle.
