After being at Liverpool, Anthony Gordon joined Everton at Under-12 level. He was one of a number of youngsters who made his debut for the Toffees in December 2017 against Apollon Limassol. He made his Premier League debut in 2019/20 and spent a period on loan at at Preston the following season.

2021/22 proved to be a breakthrough season as he played a major part in securing Everton’s survival in the Premier League. In total, he made 78 appearances for Everton, scoring seven goals.

Gordon joined United On 29th January 2023 on a long-term contract, the fee believed to be an initial £40 million, potentially rising to £45 million in add-ons.

Made his debut against West Ham on the 4th February and his first start a month later. Gordon has admitted he found the transition to Eddie Howe’s detailed tactical instructions and intensive style of play quite challenging. And when he was subbed against Brentford after only coming on at half-time his frustrations spilled over and he reacted angrily.

Gordon had already represented England at U18, U19, U20 and U21 level before he joined United. And during the summer of 2023 Gordon helped England win the U21 European Championship and was named Player of the Tournament.

Anthony has arguably been the Magpies best performer during 2023/24 and has been rewarded for his good form with a call up to the full England squad. He made his debut against Brazil and appeared as a substitute against Belgium.

With pace to burn Gordon is capable of playing across the front line but looks more comfortable on the left where he can cut in to shoot or pass.
